An NPI number is a unique 10-digit identification number issued to healthcare providers by the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). When applying for this number, you may want to use your business address and phone numbers because this information will be available on their website. Once assigned, a provider's NPI number is permanent and remains with the provider for life regardless of job or location changes.
